- LEVEL DESIGNER INFORMATION -
This program can be used to redesign the game's background levels. It can
load and save levels with numbers from 0-99, but the game itself only uses
numbers 0-8.
When you load the designer, you will be presented with the main screen. The
layout of this is as follows:- At the top left of the screen are 4 icons for
loading, saving and scrolling through the level. In between these are two
numbers, the top number is the current position in the level (Two hex digits
between 05 and C7), and the bottom number is the current level you are
working on. Below this you will see the current colour (0-7) and the red,
green, and blue values (hex digits) of the current colour. You can change
the current colour with the + and - keys, and alter the RGB values by
pressing either R, G, or B, and then a hex digit (0-9,A-F). Also, to the
right of the colour number you will see a block off the main drawing area.
This is the graphics block you are currently using.
To select a graphics block to draw with, click the right mouse button and
the full range of characters will be displayed. From here, either move the
pointer over the block you want, and click the left button, or press the
right button again to return to the main screen.
The right two thirds of the screen show the part of a level you are using.
You can scroll this up and down by 1 block using the scroll icons, or by 5
blocks using the up and down cursor keys. To draw on the level, just move
the mouse pointer to the desired position, and press the left button. The
current graphics block will then be placed at that position.
To save or load a level, move the pointer to the appropriate icon and press
the left button. The operation you selected (SAVE or LOAD) will be printed,
and you should then type - with leading zeros - a two digit level number.
You can then press return to save or load, or any other key to abort.
When the designer screen appears again, you can continue.
You can quit the designer by pressing the escape key on the main drawing
screen.
NOTE: Do not remove the disk while the designer is running, and if you
are going to save levels make sure that the disk write-protect
tab is off BEFORE you load the designer.
